22 May The Resource Hub: A Place for 8 80 Ideas, Inspiration and Action
We are happy to introduce our Resource Hub, an online toolkit that contains open source resources and tools designed for anyone interested in learning more about conducting community engagement activities, open streets, or creating more healthy and equitable public spaces in our cities.
More than 12 years of working on diverse projects around the world have given us the opportunity to develop, test, and refine new and creative ways of working with communities. The Resource Hub is proof of the journey.
This new section of our website contains three areas we hope you find useful:
1. Open Streets Toolkit: A one-stop shop of everything you need to start or grow an open streets program in your community. This toolkit is housed on the Open Streets Project, a collaboration between 8 80 Cities and StreetPlans.
2. 8 80 Civic Engagement Tools: A collection of some of the tools we use for our community engagement projects, including: action planning (activities to help you bring ideas to life); ideating (brainstorming activities to generate ideas, big and small, for creating streets, parks, and public spaces for all ages); visioning (activities to help create an overarching, guiding vision for your project); site assessment (methods for assessing existing conditions in your community); and others. Explore our tools.
3. The Doable City Reader: The DCR is a collection of stories about action and change. It’s about the change-makers that made it happen and the research to support building more walkable and bikeable streets and vibrant parks and public spaces. The site is designed to educate, inspire and empower anyone interested in leading and supporting positive change in their community.
All the three areas contain a wealth of easy to digest information and downloadable resources. We invite you to dive in and share these tools and resources with your teams and networks.
