We’ll Miss You, Ryan O’Connor

Ryan O’Connor

After 6 amazing years with 8 80 Cities, Ryan O’Connor, Director of Programs, has decided to take a new position in the philanthropic sector. While he will no longer be at 8 80 Cities, we are all so excited for him and look forward to ongoing collaborations, as well as standing open invites to team lunches and coffee chats.

Ryan joined 8 80 Cities when he had just completed his Master’s degree in Urban Planning and moved to Toronto. He was brought on as a Project Coordinator but moved through various roles during his time with the organization. He worked as a Project Manager on initiatives like Emerging Cities Champions, Doable Neighborhoods, and various study tours. With his contagious enthusiasm, he supported our team as interim Executive Director in 2017. He later transitioned to Director of Programs and worked collaboratively to develop some of our most exciting projects yet. We are sad to see him go but are excited for him as he takes on his new position as Grants Manager at the Toronto Atmospheric Fund.

In addition to his fantastic insights, leadership and dedicated work ethic, there are also a few other things we will miss about Ryan. Candy and sweets of any sort wouldn’t last long in the office while Ryan was around. On occasion, Ryan would bring his dog into the office! Lastly, Ryan’s passion for cities and love for bike rides will be missed.

We wish Ryan all the best in this next chapter of his career. Ongoing and new partnership opportunities with 8 80 Cities can be relayed to Amanda O’Rourke – Executive Director.
